Background

Born Hartington, Derbyshire, 27 Mar 1884. Parents deceased. He had elder twin brothers and one sister. Employed as a Telephone Engineer.

Enlisted at Attercliffe, Sheffield. Served with the 1st EYR. posted to France on 19 May 1915. Wounded in the arm and head on 22 June 1915. Killed in action, 25 Apr 1918, aged 34.

Married at Hull, in 1916. Husband of Edith Frances Ward Bosley, of 2, Toll Gravel, Beverley, East Yorkshire (war pension address).

Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. His widow was accused of misconduct and neglectng their three children. The children were removed to Dr Barnardos Homes.
