HE ENLISTED, ON 12/12/1915 AT HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 24629, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. MOBILIZED ON 30/03/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 6TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, ON 18/06/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 14/11/1916. INVALIDED TO ENGLAND ON 03/03/1917. DIED ON 05/03/1917, AGED 19, AT THE ROYAL VICTORIA HOSPITAL, NETLEY, OF TRENCH FOOT AND GANGRENE. BURIED HULL HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HE HAS SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 52 DAYS.
