HE MARRIED ANNIE ELIZABETH DUNWELL (1881-1972), IN YORK, ON 10/06/1903. THEY LIVED AT 72 CLARENCE STREET, YORK, (ARMY ADDRESS). DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 10 INCHES TALL, 368 INCH CHEST, HAZEL EYES AND DARK BROWN HAIR. A VERY GOOD CHARACTER. GOOD TIME KEEPER, INDUSTRIOUS AND ATTENTIVE TO DETAIL.

HE ENLISTED INTO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS, ON 11/08/1915, AGED 36. THROUGH HIS SKILLS, HE WAS PROMOTED THROUGH THE RANKS. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 19/03/1916. QUALIFIED AS COMPANY QUARTERMASTER SERGEANT, ON 03/02/1916. DISCHARGED ON 18/07/1918. DIED ON 01/04/1919, AGED 40. BURIED IN HULL.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH WAR MEMORIAL NEWINGTON, HULL. THERE ARE NO CWGC RECORDS OF HIS DEATH.
