BORN HULL 1889. SON OF HARRY & CAROLINE ALLVIN ABOVE. FIANCEE MARY COWLAM. SON OF A HAIRDRESSER. HE WORKED AS A HAIRDRESSER'S ASSISTANT. HE ENLISTED IN BEVERLEY. SERVED IN THE 1ST WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/04/1918, AGED 29. BURIED AT BELGIUM BATTERY CORNER, YPRES. COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO MISS MARY COWLAM, AND BOTH PARENTS. THE FAMILY PUBLISHED A POEM TO HIS MEMORY, (HULL DAILY MAIL, 14/05/1918).
