BORN HULL 1897. SCULCOATES. SON OF ALBERT WOODWARD ADKINS (1868-1947) & MARY ELIZABETH THOMPSON (1869-1955), OF 201, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS) AND 132, SOMERSET STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE WORKED AS AN ERRAND BOY.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE 157th ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. DIED IN FRANCE ON 3RD MARCH 1917, AGED 20.
HE WAS UNMARRIED AND HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER. HE LEFT SIBLINGS, MABEL, NELLIE AND BEN.
HE IS BURIED AT FOUQUESCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, "WHO DIES IF ENGLAND LIVES?"
