BORN HULL 1884. SON OF ALFRED DAVID BOTTOMLEY (1854-1921) AND SARAH HARRISON (1857-1934).

HE MARRIED FLORENCE DANCE, AT HULL, IN JULY 1907. HE LIVED AT 3 CLARENCE AVENUE, ST MARKS STREET, HULL (HULL DAILY MAIL ADDRESS, 14/12/1918 & 17/11/1919). HIS WIFE FLORENCE, AND FOUR CHILDREN ALSO LIVED AT 11 MELTON TERRACE, CLEVELAND STREET, HULL AND 10 VILLA TERRACE, BARNSLEY STREET, HULL (PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS). FORMERLY WORKED AS AN OIL MILLER (1911 CENSUS) AND FOR THE BRITISH GAS COMPANY IN HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL IN 1915. SERVED AS A RIFLEMAN IN THE 12TH RIFLE BRIGADE. HE HAD BEEN IN THE ARMY FOR THREE YEARS, WHEN HE WAS TAKEN PRISONER. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, IN GERMANY, ON 17/11/1918, AGED 34. THE WAR HAD JUST ENDED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER SARAH AND GRANDMOTHER, WHO BECAME GUARDIANS OF THEIR CHILDREN.

HIS NAME WAS LISTED ON ST MARKS STREET MEMORIAL, HULL.
