BORN MELBOURE, AUSTRALIA, 1893. SON OF CHRISTOPHER CHARLES ARCHER AND ELIZA BENNETT OF ASCOT, VICTORIA.

A SAILOR BY PROFESSION. DOCKED IN ENGLAND WHEN WAR DECLARED AND LEFT HIS SHIP TO ENLIST AT FINSBURY MIDDLESEX.

FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 8277, ROYAL FUSILIERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED TWICE. HE WAS  INVALIDED TO ENGLAND WITH FROSTBITE. DURING HIS STAY HE MET AND MARRIED, MISS DORIS EVELYN HEELAS, AT SCULCOATES, HULL, IN 1915. SHE WAS THE ELDEST DAUGHTER, OF FRED HEELAS, OF PRESTON.

HE RETURNED TO FRANCE AND WAS KILLED, AT THE SOMME, ON 16/08/1916, AGED 23.

HIS WIFE WAS BORN ON 24/03/1895. THEY HAD ON DAUGHTER, IRENE HAMILTON, BORN ON 06/05/1916.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 03/10/1916.
