BORN HUDDERSFIELD 1872. FISHERMAN. SKIPPER OF THE FISHING VESSEL 'IMPERIALIST'. SUNK BY A GERMAN MINE, ON 06/09/1914. AGED 42. LEFT WIDOW JEANIE WOOD AND FOUR CHILDREN, AT 10 BACHELER STREET (1911 CENSUS). 41 CHOLMLEY STREET WAS HIS PROBATE ADDRESS. HE LEFT £5,993 IN HIS WILL TO TOM WOOD.

HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 6TH SEPTEMBER 1914. *

IMPERIALIST (H250) was a British registered steam fishing vessel of 346grt that was mined by the German Albatross when 40nm ENE of Tynemouth on the 6th September 1914 when on route from Iceland for Hull. 2 crew lost.
