Hull Grammar School WW1 Memorial. Large bronze plaque, which lists 84 names now located at Tranby School, Anlaby, Hull
BORN GREAT YARMOUTH, NORFOLK, 1882. SON OF ELIZABETH & THE LATE ROBERT MOORE, OF 64, AUCKLAND AVENUE, COTTINGHAM ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). SON OF A MASTER MARRINER, FROM NORFOLK. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. WAS EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. WORKED AS AN IRON MONGER (1911 CENSUS).
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (HULL RIFLES). SERVED IN BELGIUM AND FRANCE. KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 15/09/1916, AGED 34. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ELIZABETH.
