BORN HULL 08/06/1894. SON OF MARY ANNETTE FORD (1865-1938) & WALTER JOHN ANTHONY (1852-1926), OF 257, WATERLOO STREET, HULL AND 32, SOMERSCALES STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). SON OF A FURNITURE UPHOLSTERER. ONE OF TEN CHILDREN. A TIMBER MERCHANT'S CLERK, AND FORMERLY OF MESSRS, SANDERSON AND FERENS SOLICITORS, PARLIAMENT STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A CYCLIST WITH 5TH EAST YORKSHIRES. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT THE SOMME, ON 18/06/1916, AGED 22. HIS MOTHER APPEALED FOR MORE INFORMATION, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 23/12/1916.

HE HAS NO KNOWN GRAVE AND IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THEIPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MARY.
