Born Montreal, Canada, 1882. Son of Andrew Hemel, of 236 Leslile Street, Montreal.
A Carpenter. Described as 5 foot, 7.5 inches tall. 150 lbs weight, 36- 38.5 inch Chest, Good Physical development.
Enlisted in Hull, on 18th October 1915, aged 33. Formerly of the 8th East Yorkshire Regiment. Wounded in the hand, at Serre, on 13/11/1916 (46 days in Newcastle hospital).
Returned to France, on 17th June 1917. Transferred to the 1/4th East Yorkshire Regiment. Died of pneumonia, a German Prisoner of War, on 15/10/1918, aged 36. Buried in Germany.
