Walter John Ball was born in 1893 in Beverley. Son of the late Mrs. S. Ball, of 13, Princes Gardens, Beverley, Yorkshire.
He served in the East Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 20 September 1914.
He was awarded the14 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
He is commemorated at the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre memorial, France.
