BORN HULL 1881. SON OF WILLIAM AND ELIZABETH ANN BARRASS, AT 5 COACH AND HORSES YARD, MYTONGATE, HULL. SON OF A WATER LIGHTERMAN. HE WORKED AS A DOCK LABOURER. BOARDED AT 8 MYTONGATE, HULL (1911 CENSUS)

HE ENLISTED IN 1915. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 316161 ROYAL IRISH REGIMENT. WAS WOUNDED AND TRANSFERRED TO THE 35TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS, WHICH WAS A LABOUR BATTALION. HE DIED OF GAS POISONING, IN WARRINGTON HOSPITAL, ON 05/09/1919, AGED 38. HE IS BURIED AT HULL HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 17/09/1919. *

UNMARRIED. HE LEFT HIS ARMY EFFECTS TO HIS SISTER, ELIZABETH, AT 5 THE COACH AND HORSES YARD, MYTONGATE, HULL (PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS BROTHER, FRED BARRASS ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR.
