Charles Henry Bartram, RNR

BORN HULL 15/02/1889. SON OF JOHN ARTHUR & ANN EDITH BARTRAM. HIS WIFE JANE & CHILDREN, JIMMY & FLORRY, LIVED AT 10 ARTHUR GROVE, MANCHESTER STREET, HULL (CWGC AND 1918 ABSENT VOTERS ADDRESS). BEFORE THE WAR, HE WAS FISHING WITH THE RED CROSS FLEET.

HE SERVED AS A DECK HAND IN THE ROYAL NAVY RESERVE. STATIONED IN MALTA FOR THREE YEARS.  SERVED ON HMS EGMON, ZARINA, AND THE MOTOR SHIP, ‘CRADOSIN’. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 12/09/1918, AGED 29. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND TWO CHILDREN. IS COMMEMORATED ON THE CHATHAM NAVAL MEMORIAL, KENT.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 14/10/1918. *
