BORN HULL 1892. SON OF HARRY BINKS (1862-1935) AND ANNIE ELIZA BINKS, OF 14 HILDA GROVE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (1911 CENSUS). THEY LOST BOTH SONS IN THE WAR. JOHN BINKS, WAS A LABOURER. WORKED WITH HIS FATHER, AT BLUNDELL’S PAINT WORKS. HE HAD JOINED THE TERRITORIALS AT HULL, ON 26/01/1911. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 89779, EYR. ESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6.5 INCHES TALL,  35.5-37 INCH CHEST.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL.WHEN WAR BEGAN. HE WAS POSTED TO THE 21ST TYNESIDE SCOTTISH AND KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/01/1917, AGED 25. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND CHILD.

HE HAD MARRIED AT ST ANDREWS, HULL ON 01/06/1914. HIS WIFE, GERTRUDE WITHERWICK (1889-1960) & SON CHARLES (1915-1974), LIVED AT 8 ALEXANDRA TERRACE, WOODHOUSE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 29TH JANUARY 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

HIS BROTHER, HENRY BINKS DIED ON THE DAY WAR ENDED – 11/11/1918.
