Blakey, Joseph Sykes

Born North Shields, Northumberland, 1881. Chief Engineer on the steam ship, ‘Harrogate’. The British cargo ship Harrogate SS, foundered 50 miles off the coast of Norway on February 20th, 1918. She was on a voyage from Hull to Bergen carrying a cargo of coke. He died at sea, aged 37. He left £239 in his will to Marth Elizabeth Blakey, widow at this Probate address. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 27/12/1918. No CWGC record of his death.
