HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 5/08/1914. PROMOTED CQSM, ON 1/05/1916. SERVED WITH TEH 27TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. DISCHARGED AS UNFIT ON 29/10/1917. DESCRIBED AS OF VERY GOOD CHARACTER. HE DIED OF BRONCHIAL PNEUMONIA, ON 04/03/1918. BURIED HULL NORTHERN CEMETERY. AGED 48.

HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, PRIVATE, PERCY BRIGHT, 10TH ESSEX REGIMENT, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/10/1917, AGED 39.
