BORN BEVERLEY 1892. SON OF JAMES AND FANNY BUGG, 28 BECKSIDE, BEVERLEY. HE WAS A SINGLE MAN. BEVERLEY. FARM LABOURER. HORSES LAD. ENLISTED DRIFFIELD 20/01/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE 22/05/1916. DIED OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE ABDOMEN ON 09/08/1916, AGED 24. HE HAD BEEN IN THE ARMY FOR ONLY EIGHT MONTHS. HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON BEVERLEY’S WW1 MEMORIAL.

James was born in Beverley in June 1892. His parents were James, born 1852 in Beverley and Fanny born 1857 in County Durham.

James enlisted in the Army on 20 January 1916 initially joining the 8th Battalion of the East Yorkshire Regiment, transferring to the 12th Battalion on 21 May 1916. On 8 August 1916 James was wounded in the abdomen and died the next day while in the care of 95th Field Ambulance.
