BORN HARTLEPOOL, DURHAM, 10/07/1886. SON OF MARY JANE (DOLLY) LINCOLN, AT 8 OAK AVENUE, SUBWAY STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). SERVED AS A SEAMAN, FROM, 03/12/902. DROWNED ON 11/11/1917, AGED 31, OFF THE COAST OF PALESTINE.

HMS Staunch was an Acron class destroyer of the British Navy. On November 11th 1917, she was torpedoed by the German submarine UC-38 (Oberleutnant zur See Hans Hermann Wendlandt), off Deir el-Balah, Gaza, the Palestine coast. 8 soldiers were killed.
