BORN HULL 27/10/1892. ONLY SON OF GEORGE CHAPMAN (1859-1933) & EMILY JANE CHAPMAN (1862-1918), OF 159, WALTON STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 348 , ANLABY ROAD, HULL. HE HAD ONE YOUNGER SISTER, ETHEL. SON OF A JOINER. HE WORKED AS A CABINET MAKER. HE WAS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 35-37 INCH CHEST, 126 LBS WEIGHT, GOOD PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 23/10/1915. TRAINED AT ALDERSHOT. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION, AT ARRAS, ON 23/04/1917, AGED 24. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 183 DAYS.  HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.
