HE ENLISTED IN LEEDS, ON 07/08/1914, AGED 23 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS. EX 2138, 7TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6 INCHES TALL, 36 INCH CHEST, “GOOD” VISION. HE TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 19733, 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 28/03/1917, AGED 26. BURIED AT FAUBOURG D’AMIENS CEMETERY, ARRAS. HIS WIFE ANNIE CLARKE LIVED AT 4 KINGSTON TERRACE, CUMBERLAND STREET, HULL (WAR PESION ADDRESS).
