BORN GREAT COATES, GRIMSBY 11/01/1899. SON OF THOMAS DRURY COLLINGWOOD & HANNAH TAYLOR, OF 11 FOX STREET, SCUNTHORPE. SON OF A BLACKSMITH. EDUCATED AT ST JAMES SECONDARY SCHOOL, GRIMSBY. WAS A CORRESPONDENCE CLERK. ENLISTED IN THE LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT ON 27/02/1917 SCUNTHORPE. SERVED WITH THE BEF IN FRANCE FROM 13/02/1918. REPORTED MISSING ON 21/03/1918 AND DIED A PRISONER OF WAR AT LE CATEAU ON 28/03/1918. HE HAD JUST TURNED 19 AND WAS SINGLE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER THOMAS AT 93 , DE LA POLE AVENUE, HULL. HE WAS BURIED AT LE CATEAU MILITARY CEMETERY, FRANCE.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 09/11/1918. HIS HULL ADDRESS IS RECORDED IN THE HDM, 29/12/1919.
