BORN HULL 1891. HULL PAL. ELDEST SON OF WILLIAM HENRY COOPER (1863-1942) & CHARLOTTE ELIZABETH FOX (1863-1941), AT 7 EDWARDS SQUARE, COMMERCIAL ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. AN OIL MILLER, LIKE HIS FATHER. HE ENLISTED IN THE 12TH HULL PALS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/04/1917, AGED 26. COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WILLIAM.

FIVE COOPER BROTHERS SERVED DURING THE WAR AND WERE FEATURED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON SATURDAY 16/02/1916. HIS BROTHER JAMES COOPER, ALSO SERVED IN THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 1ST HULL 1916.
