BORN HULL 1889. ELDEST SON OF THOMAS CRANSWICK (1863-1945) & ANNIE REID (1864-1930), OF 106 VICTORIA AVENUE, HULL. SON OF A MERCHANT. HIS TWO BROTHERS WERE FRANK AND NELSON. HE WAS AN OIL MANUFACTURER CLERK.

HE ENLISTED AT THE START OF THE WAR. PROMOTED TO SERGEANT AND LATER COMMISSIONED. SERVED AS SECOND LIEUTENANT, IN THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION ON 26/10/1916, AGED 27.

HE LEFT £267 TO HIS FATHER IN HIS WILL, AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS. HE IS BURIED AT BAZENTIN-LE-PETIT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, ON THE SOMME.
