Joanne Bone writes: William was the “eldest and dearest son” (quote in letter from father George) – he was born in 1892 Salford – son of George Cullum b 1862 Darcy Essex & Sarah Ibson b 1868 in Beverley. George Cullum attested on 19/05/1917 after serving for 12 yrs in British Army from 1884 -1896 – he was not accepted for service in WWI due to his physical health. William was brother to
Catherine Mary b 1890 Hull;
Alice b 1893 Preston, Lancashire;
Ethel Elizabeth b 1900 Hull,
Walter Edward b 1903 Hull,
Ada b 07/03/1908 Higher Broughton, Manchester and Thomas b 31/7/1912 Hull.
Both William and his father were carters / coachmen. They were a family that travelled the country quite possibly due to George being in the forces – 1891 Sarah and Catherine were in Sheffield, in 1901 the family were in Sculcoates, Hull and 1911 in Pendleton, Salford before returning to Daltry St, Hull before 1915. It would seem that there were many people that mourned his passing
