BORN SOUTHCOATES, HULL 1896. SON OF WILTON CURWEN & ALICE BEAUMONT, OF 17 CORNWALL GARDENS, BRUNSWICK AVENUE, HULL AND LATER 207 BRECK ROAD, LIVERPOOL. A BLACKSMITH’S STRIKER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 14/08/1913. A REGULAR ARMY SOLDIER. SERVED WITH THE 1ST COLDSTREAM GUARDS, IN THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON ON 28/10/1914, AGED 18. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER WILTON CURWEN.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE SCOTT STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 09 October 1916)

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 09/10/1916 AS DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT YPRES. HE IS BURIED AT YPRES TOWN CEMETERY EXTENSION. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “MY ONLY SON”
