SS Torcello, built by Earle’s Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Hull in 1912 and owned at the time of her loss by Ellerman’s Wilson Line, Ltd., Hull, was a British steamer of 2.929 tons.
On July 15th, 1917, Torcello, on a voyage from Palermo to Hull with general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-48 (Karl Edeling), 160 miles SWxW of Bishop Rock. 1 person was lost.
