Davison, John William

BORN SCARBOROUGH 1892. SON OF CHARLES E. DAVISON & JANE E DAVIS, OF  3 DERWENT AVENUE, WESTBOURNE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS). HE ALSO LIVED WITH HIS SISTER MRS LEE, AT 41 EDGAR STREET. HE WAS WELL KNOWN AT HULL’S MARKET PLACE WHERE HE ASSISTED ON ONE OF THE BOOK STALLS. HE WAS A RESERVIST AND HAD SERVED THROUGHOUT THE BOER WAR. ENLISTED HULL. KILLED IN ACTION AT YPRES, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 23. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HALF SISTER AND SOLE LEGATEE, MRS MARY HANNAH LEE.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE WALKER STREET MEMORIAL & EDGAR STREET SHRINE. HIS DEATH AND ADDRESS WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 24TH AUGUST 1915. ALSO IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 28TH AUGUST 1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
