BORN HULL 1890. FIRST SON OF GEORGE WILLIAM & ANN ELIZABETH DAY, OF 12 GLASS HOUSE ROW, CLEVELAND STREET, HULL (1901 CENSUS). ONE OF THREE CHILDREN. ELDEST CHILD WAS THEIR SISTER AGNES. THE FAMILY MOVED TO 164 UNION STREET, HARGREASE SQUARE, SHIPLEY YORKS. HE MARRIED MABEL BAXTER, IN NORTH BIERLEY, IN 1909. THEY LIVED AT BETHEL STREET, EAST MORTON, BINGLEY, YORKSHIRE.

HE ENLISTED AT BRADFORD. SERVED AS PRIVATE 18903, 2ND PRINCE OF WALES (WEST YORKSHIRE) REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/06/1917, AGED 27. HE IS BURIED AT BELGIAN BATTERY CORNER CEMETERY, YPRES. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “WE MISSED HIM SORELY”
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, MABEL CLARKSON (FORMERLY DAY), AT 14 DALE STREET, SHIPLEY AND HER THREE CHILDREN, ALBERT, MAJORIE AND GEORGE.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, 44151, GEORGE EDWARD DAY, 7TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, DIED ON WOUNDS, ON 19/09/1918, AGED 25.
