He had served in the 1/4th EYR Territorials. Enlsited at Hull, on 10/12/1915. Called up on 26/7/1916. Served with the 1st east Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to France on 12/12/1916.
Killed in action, on 25/02/1917, aged 27. Commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
His army effects were left to his widow, Elsie. She moved to Bedford street and then to 14, Burton Villa, Field Street, Hull (War pension Address).
