
Born Hull 1894. Fifth son of Alfred Dring (1853-1932) and Sarah Jane Neal (1853-1903), of 2, Aspen Avenue, Symons Street, Hull (1911 census). He had six brothers and one sister, Jessie Maud.
Employed as a wood Joiner.
He married Eva Ann Smith (1897-1991), at Hull, in 1917. They lived at 12, Floral Avnue and 7, Pretoria Avenue, Edinburgh Street, Hull (army and war Pension address). They had two daughters, Lilian Irene and Marjorie Dring.
He enlisted in the Territorials. on 20 Nov 1911. Posted to France, on 17 April 1915. Served in the 1/4th East Yorkshire Regiment. Attached to the Machine Gun Corps. Returned to England, with gas poisoning on 16 July 1916. Promoted to Sergeant, on 13 Aug 1917.
Discharged on 4 Feb 1919, aged 25, after 7 years and 76 days service.
Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 517928). Died at Hull, on 10/10/1923, aged 29.
