BORN BEVERLEY 1892. ONLY CHILD OF GEORGE & ELLEN DUKES, OF 2, LABURNUM AVENUE, HARDY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) & 161 NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL. A FISH CURER LABOURER, AT HULL BILLINGSGATE.

HE ENLISTED, IN THE HULL PALS, ON 14/09/1914. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 7 INCHES TALL, 142 LBS, 36 INCH CHEST. SURVIVED THE SOMME AND OPPY WOOD BATTLES. KILLED IN ACTION ON 28/08/1918, AGED 27.

HE WAS UNMARRIED AND ALL HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, ELLEN AT 2 LABURNUM AVENUE, HARDY STREET, HULL.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 25/09/1918. *
