Lance Corporal George Herbert Dunn (1890-1916) of Hornsea

George Herbert Dunn was born in 1890, in Hornsea , the youngest of six children born to George Dunn, a gardener, and his wife Isabella. Son of George and Isabella Dunn, of Church Lane. Withernwick, Hull.

George Herbert served in the 1st Battalion of the Coldstream Guards.

George Herbert was ‘Killed in Action’ on 16 September 1916, at the age of 26, during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette,

George was awarded the 15 star, the British War and Victory medals and, having no known grave, he is ‘Remembered with Honour’ on the Thiepval Memorial.
