BORN SWANLAND 1891. SON OF WILLIAM FAIRBANK (1865-1918) AND MATILDA ELLEN LISTER (1871-1906). SON OF A COWMAN. SECOND SON OF FIVE CHILDREN. (FOUR BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER). LIVED IN HEDON.  WORKED AS A FARM HORSEMAN. ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 9TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 05/10/1918, AGED 28. HIS FATHER HAD DIED WEEKS EARLIER ON 28/09/1918.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER, MRS EMILY MARY GOULSBRA, OF LELLEY, PRESTON, HULL. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ALL SAINTS CHURCH WW1 MEMORIAL, PRESTON, HULL.

HIS ELDER BROTHER, WILLIAM HENRY (HARRY) FAIRBANK, EMIGRATED TO CANADA AND  SERVED WITH THE CANADIANS DURING THE WAR. HIS BROTHER, REGINALD FAIBANK, SERVED AS A LABOURER, WITH THE WEST RIDING REGIMENT.
