Fenner, Walter Noel

BORN MARFLEET, HULL 1895. SON OF WALTER GEORGE FENNER (1866-1942) & EDITH HARRIET FENNER (1864-1932). HE WAS ONE OF FOUR CHILDREN, OF “EASTVILLE”, HEDON, HULL. HIS SIBLINGS WERE SISTERS, MILDRED, LESLIE AND BROTHER, JOSEPH. IN 1911 HE WAS WORKING AS A FARM PUPIL, AT LUND, DRIFFIELD AND LECTURED AT LEEDS AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE. ALSO A FORMER MEMBER OF THE BRIDLINGTON EAST RIDING YEOMANRY BEFORE WAR BEGAN.

HE SERVED AS  SECOND LIEUTENANT IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY AS A TERRITORIAL AND THE 35TH ANTI AIRCRAFT COMPANY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON 02/07/1917, AGED 22. HE LEFT £192 IN HIS WILL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAL ON  14/07/1917.

HE IS BURIED AT MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT, SEINE MARITIME, FRANCE. HE IS ALSO COMMEMORATED ON THE MARFLEET ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL.

HIS OLDER BROTHER, JOSEPH, SERVED AS A MAJOR, DURING THE WAR, AND DIED IN 1945, AGED 56.
