Fewster, Charles Fred

Born Hull 22/08/1884. Son of Robert Fewster (1841-1926) and Harriet Drewery (1850-1886). He married at Hull, in 1905, aged 20. His wife Amelia Ellen Fewster, lived at 1, Herberts Terrace, Westbourne St, Hull, (Naval address). They had four children. He was lost on the Trawler, “Waltham”, on 10/10/1917, aged 31. He is commemorated on the ww1 Memorial at St John the Baptist Church, Newington, Hull.
Waltham, built by Mackie & Thomson, Glasgow in 1897 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British navy trawler of 162 tons. On October 10th, 1917, Waltham was sunk by a German submarine. She was reported missing off Isle of Man. Waltham may have been lost on mines laid six days earlier by UC-75. 13 persons were lost.
