Fielder, Robert Swift

BORN BLACKTOFT, YORKS, 1900. SON OF JOSEPH FIELDER (1868-1956) & ANNIE SWIFT (1868-1946), OF BURTON CONSTABLE STATION, ELLERBY, SKIRLAUGH. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. HE SERVED IN THE 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF PNEUMONIA, AT THE HULL V.A.D. HOSPITAL, ON 15/11/1918, AGED 18. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOSEPH.
HE IS REMEMBERED ON ST JAMES CHURCH MEMORIAL, ELLERBY, EAST YORKSHIRE.
HE IS BURIED AT MARFLEET (ST. GILES) CHURCHYARD, HULL. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “ABOVE, LOVING SON OF J. & A. FIELDER BURTON CONSTABLE”

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED WITH OTHER RAILWAY WORKERS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 07/12/1919.
