BORN BATTERSEA LONDON 1891. SON OF ALEXANDER FRANCES (1857-1894) AND FANNY ELLEN MAYSTON (1857-1947). ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. HE LIVED IN HULL AND WORKED AS AN ASSISTANT TEACHER AT HULL’S SEAMAN ORPHANGE, SPRINGBANK. HE LATER LIVED LEISTON, SUFFOLK. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. POSTED TO THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 17/10/1915, AGED 25. AT NO:9 FIELD AMBULANCE HOSPITAL. HE LEFT £100 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, FANNY. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 06/11/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
BURIED AT VERMELLES BRITISH CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE IS INSCRIBED WITH THE WORDS, “THY SPIRIT SHINETH PURE AND BRIGHT”.
