TRANSFERRED TO THE 9TH YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION ON 24/10/1918, AGED 22. HE WAS UNMARRIED AND HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER, ROBERT. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST MATHEWS CHURCH, BOULEVARD. HE IS BURIED AT POMMEREUIL BRITISH CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “SOME DAY WE’LL UNDERSTAND”.
