BORN HULL 1897. ONLY SON OF COUNCILLOR, JAMES WILLIAM GIBSON & MAUD GIBSON ABOVE. EDUCATED AT HYMERS. HE WAS INTENDED FOR A LEGAL CAREER, BUT TRAINED AT SANDHURST ARMY COLLEGE, INSTEAD. GAZETTED TO SECOND LIEUTENANT, 5TH ROYAL IRISH LANCERS. HE WAS HOME ON LEAVE, FIVE MONTHS AGO AND VOLUNTEERED FOR THE “BIG PUSH”. HE WAS SHOT IN THE FOREHEAD, DURING A CAVALRY CHARGE, ON 16/08/1918, AGED 21.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 19/08/1918. *
