Goring, Robert

Born  Hull, 1882. Employed as a dockside labourer. He was well known in the Groves and Wincolmlee district of Hull. He was unmarried and lived with his sister, Gertrude Hogan , at 6 Ella Grove, Mulgrave Street, Hull. He enlisted at Walker-on-Tyne, on 20/03/1916, joining the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers. He was only in France, for three weeks, when he was killed in action, on 28/07/1916, aged 34. He is buried in Belgium. His army effects and war pension were left to his sister at this address.

His death was reported in the Hull daily Mail, on 21/08/1916. *
