ONE OF FIVE CHILDREN, WORKING ON HIS LATE FATHER’S FARM. HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. JOINED THE TYNESIDE SCOTS. DIED OF 08/04/1918, AGED 29. COMMEMORATED ON THE PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, HAINAUT, BELGIUM. REMEMBERED ON ST JAMES CHURCH MEMORIAL, ELLERBY, EAST YORKSHIRE. HE LEFT £1,319 IN HIS WILL TO ROBERT MEADLEY, A FARMER.
