Hall, Edward

Born Kirkburn, Driffield, 1890. Son of John and Sarah Jane Hall, of 36 Norwood Grove, Beverley. He had one brother, Ernest and two sisters, Alberta and Elsie, who all lived at home with their mother. Worked as a Gardiner in Beverley and Drewton Cottage, South Cave, East, Yorkshire (1911 Census). Described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, and chest size -37-39 inches.

He married at Brompton, Yorkshire, on 15/06/1915. Husband of Florence Mary Hall (1894-1983), of Southfield House, Butt Lane Beverley and later Hoggarth  Hill, Cloughton, Scarborough. They had two daughters, Florence and Elsie.

Enlisted at Beverley, on 05/10/1916. Served with “N” Company Royal Army Medical Corps. Died at Ripon, on 09/10/1916, found drowned in the River Skell, aged 26.

He is buried at St Martins, Beverley. His army effects were left to his widow, who moved to Hoggarth  Hill, Cloughton, Scarborough (War pension Address).
