Hart, Edward Alexander

BORN WAKEFIELD 24/12/1875. SON OF HENRY HART (1829-1884) AND SOPHIA KIRBY (1838-1927), OF 50, PINDERFIELD ROAD, WAKEFIELD. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. HIS FATHER WAS FROM IRELAND AND A CLOUR SERGEANT IN THE 98TH REGIMENT. HE DIED WHEN EDWARD WAS NINE YEARS OLD.

A PROFESSIONAL SOLDIER. HE LIVED WITH SISTER, SOPHIA AMELIA HART (1867-1957),  AND HER FOUR DAUGHTERS, AT 5, PRISON BUNGALOWS, HEDON ROAD, HULL, & 1, GRINDELL STREET, HEDON ROAD, HULL. HER HUSBAND WAS A PRISON WARDEN.

EDWARD HAD A HOME WAS IN GLASGOW. ENLISTED IN THE ARMY IN 1889, AGED 14. PROMOTED THROUGH RANKS. HE SERVED WITH THE 7TH NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT AND DIED IN BASRA ON 09/04/1916, AGED 41.

HIS BROTHER, HERBERT LEWIS HART WAS ALSO A SOLDIER AND DIED IN DUBLIN ON 16/03/1918, AGED 45.

HIS YOUNGEST BROTHER, CQSM, FELIX HART ALSO JOINED THE ARMY AGED 14, IN 1894 AND SERVED 25 YEARS WITH 1ST THE NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT.
