Hawksley, Arthur

BORN HULL 1891. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM HAWKSLEY (1864-1926) AND FANNY FOSTER PETCH (1849-1923), OF  1 SUSAN TERRACE, GOODWIN STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS), 2 GOMMERSALL TERRACE, GOODWIN STREET, HULL AND 2 DUMBARTON TERRACE, CLYDE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER (1911 CENSUS), BEFORE JOINING THE TERRITORIALS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. WENT TO FRANCE WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRES. REPORTED MISSING AND KILLED ON 20/10/1914, AGED 23.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, CHARLES HENRY HAWKSLEY, 8TH WEST RIDING REGIMENT, DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 29/01/1917, AGED 27.
