WILLIAM SERVED AS A SECOND LIEUTENANT IN THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS. FLEW SOPWITH CAMELS. WENT MISSING ON A BOMBING RAID, ON 20/11/1917, AT VAUCHELLES WOOD, CAMBRAI, AGED 21.

LEFT £251 TO HIS FATHER WILLIAM, A PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE SUPERINTENDENT, WHO MOVED TO 7 WINCHESTER AVENUE, LEICESTER.

HIS BROTHER, 2ND LIEUTENANT, JOHN THOMAS GORDON HIGGINSON, RFC, WAS KILLED IN A FLYING ACCIDENT, AT SPITTLEGATE, GRANTHAM, ON 01/11/1917, AGED 19.

BOTH SONS ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE FAMILY GRAVESTONE, AT CREWE CEMETERY, CHESHIRE. THEY LEFT  YOUNGER SISTER CONSTANCE AND YOUNGER BROTHER HENRY
