SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIEMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 1ST JULY 1916, ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME. AGED 34. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE.
HIS NAME WAS LISTED ON THE SCOTT STREET MEMORIAL, AS PTE. W H HOLBROOK, EYR, (HULL DAILY MAIL, 09/10/1916).
