A FORMER FARM LABOURER IN SOUTH CAVE. HE HAD JOINED THE ARMY IN LEICESTER, ON 13/01/1914. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 9 INCHES TALL, 137LBS WEIGHT, 35 INCH CHEST, DARK BROWN HAIR, AND GREY EYES. HE HAD BEEN OUT IN FRANCE SINCE 04/01/1915 HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT LOOS, ON 25/09/1915, AGED 19. HE HAD SERVED FOR ONE YEAR AND 256 DAYS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 20TH OCTOBER 1915, AND IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 23RD OCTOBER 1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO MISS GERTRUDE FLORENCE MAY WHISBY, AT 8 WAVERLEY AVENUE, MASSEY STREET, HULL.
