BORN HULL 1886.  SON OF SAMUEL SMITH JACKSON (1864-1895) & ELIZA ANN SHIELDS (1866-1937), OF 55 KENT STREET, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. ELDEST OF EIGHT CHILDREN. EX DOCK LABOURER. MARRIED ON 25/12/1913 AT ST PETER’S CHURCH, HULL. HUSBAND OF EDITH ANNIE EDITH (ADAMS), AT 5 CHARLOTTES TERRACE, BEETON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THEY HAD TWO DAUGHTERS, VIOLET, BORN 10/04/1914 AND EDNA, BORN 25/11/1916.

ENLISTED ON 05/07/1916. DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY WITH TUBERCULOSIS, ON 18/01/1917. SENT TO THE CITY HOS[PITAL, COTTINGHAM, HULL. HIS COUGH HAD STARTED TWO YEARS IN CIVIL LIFE, BUT WAS AGGRAVATED BY ARMY SERVICE. HE WAS GETTING INCREASINGLY THIN WHEN HE ENLISTED.

HIS DEATH REPORTED IN HULL DAILY MAIL, ON  20/09/1918.
