BORN HULL 1877. SON OF JOHN & MARTHA, OF 43 HIGH STREET, HULL. HIS WIFE LILY AND FIVE CHILDREN LIVED AT 103 , WHARNCLIFFE STREET, HULL. A REGULAR SOLDIER AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. HE HAD SERVED IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT FOR 21 YEARS, INCLUDING INDIA & SOUTH AFRICA. EMPLOYED AS A CARETAKER FOR MESSRS. SHAW & SONS, MALT BARLEY, OF 42 HIGH STREET, HULL.

HE SERVED AS SERGEANT, 1365, IN THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT YPRES, ON 02/05/1915, AGED 43. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND FOUR CHILDREN. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH APPEAR IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 14TH JUNE 1915, AND THE HULL TIMES ON 19TH MAY 1915. * HIS DEATH WAS ALSO REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 03/05/1917.
